Buying your first home and applying for a mortgage can be daunting, but rest assured I will walk you through the whole process every step of the way.
Whether you have already found the home of your dreams, or simply curious about taking that first step onto the property ladder, I can put you in a more informed position at the start of your exciting venture. Our initial chat will cover –
The whole homebuying process; what happens and when
The amount of deposit you will need
The pros and cons of the different mortgage options
Which insurances you may need and the cost
How much you can borrow
The other fees you will have to pay
How much your mortgage repayments will be
We will then arrange and submit a Decision in Principle (DIP) for you. This will show estate agents that you are able to buy a property and that your mortgage application has already been accepted – in principle.
As a first-time buyer, you will be in the unique position of not being in a chain and therefore able to move quickly. As well as having the Decision In Principle in place, this will further increase your credibility with estate agents, placing you in the best possible position when making an offer on your new home.
Once you have agreed the purchase price, we will then proceed with submitting the full mortgage application, recommend a solicitor if you don’t already have one, and move the purchase towards completion and the big day when you pick up the keys to your new home.
Help to buy
If you are considering using the government’s Help to Buy scheme to aid your purchase, I can help you with that too. I have helped many first-time buyers understand the application process and meet the specialist criteria lenders look for.
